چکیده

In this study, a self-developed adaptive finite element limit analysis (AFELA) code was adopted to explore the stability of dual tunnels in cohesive–frictional soil subjected surcharge loading and seismic action. Parametric studies different influential factors, including depth tunnels, horizontal distance between acceleration coefficient, unit weight, cohesion internal friction angle soils, were conducted using AFELA code. An meshing technique for optimal accuracy efficiency, pseudostatic method used simulate Strict upper bound (UB) lower (LB) results with relative errors less than 7% acquired. Detailed design tables presented facilitate engineering design, three typical failure patterns, single side-wall failure, half-cross-shaped cross-shaped corresponding stable levels, summarized deeper insight into how mechanism evolved under conditions. The indicated that variations weight void affected bearing capacity almost linearly. Furthermore, tunnel system is vulnerable actions, further undermined by adverse effects additional seismic-caused interactions two adjacent tunnels.

Seismic Stability of Subsea Tunnels Subjected to Seepage

Strength reduction method and ADINA software are adopted to study the stability of submarine tunnel structures subjected to seepage and earthquake under different seawater depths and overlying rock strata thicknesses. First, the excess pore water pressure in the rock mass is eliminated through consolidation calculation. Second, dynamic time-history analysis is performed by inputting the seismic...

Seven-story Building Subjected to Seismic Loading: Experimentation and Modeling

This article presents a research program on a structure representing a seven-story residential building tested on the shaking table in the NEES [6]. The building was designed using a displacement based capacity approach for a site in Los Angeles resulting design lateral force. The structure is composed of 2 main perpendicular walls connected by slotted connections. The numerical calculations ha...

numerical modeling of tunnels and lifelines in liquefiable grounds under seismic loading

earthquakes could have catastrophic impacts on tunnels and buried structures. liquefaction phenomenon is one of the most destructive effects of earthquakes. liquefaction results in decreasing effective stress and this consequently leads to decreases in shear strength of the soil. as a result, large deformation in both soil and buried structure occurs. moreover, liquefaction causes soil boiling,...

Seismic Damage Assessment of RC Buildings Subjected to the Rotational Ground Motion Records Considering Soil-Structure Interaction

The significance of the seismic rotational components have been overlooked in the seismic evaluation of structural behavior. As researchers have measured seismic components more accurately using sensitive rotational velocity sensor, it was observed that the magnitude of rotational components is considerable and could not be neglected. Hence, some parts of seismic damage or failure of structures...
